The most essential thing to our existence is purpose. Without purpose, every last one of us feels like nothing more than a waste of space. What is your purpose? What inspires you?

Let’s focus on that word for a moment, inspire. Inspiration.

Every single person has been, currently is, and always will be inspired by something. But sometimes we go through a dry spell and everything about life seems dull. Especially when you turn your passion into a system of profit. Burn out comes very easily. Things become very routine and it’s just man whatever, am I right?

Whenever I have a product shoot and I just don’t quite know what I want to do, I get my creative juices flowing by visiting Pinterest. Pinterest is my go-to when I need a quick boost. A quick creative high if you will.

But recently I came across a few crates of vintage magazines and it reignited everything I needed. I grew up spending a lot of time going through magazines like People, Hip Hop Weekly, Jet, Vibe, The Source, even Highlights which was more of an educational playbook for children. I always paid attention to the ads. Whether it was for clothing, food, jewelry, even cigarettes (remember the Truth Initiative ads from the 2000s? lol) my eyes were glued to the pages.

Quickly perusing through some of the magazines in these crates brought me back to those days. And people who know me know I love nostalgia. I feel like I’ve activated a part of my creative brain that’s been asleep for a long while.
