PARADISE 08

I like to exercise while editing video projects. Why? It caters to my unprofessionally diagnosed ADD (or ADHD; I’m not sure) and keeps my brain engaged.

I don’t have the best attention span, nor do I have a consistent schedule. I can’t sit still for long, and my mind is always racing. But here's why I do it!

Many of my clients don’t have a clear direction for their content or any established brand guidelines. They often don’t know what they’ll like until they see it, so I rely entirely on my creative instincts to craft something tailored to them. While they trust my creative vision, it can be time-consuming to create something from scratch.

The first thing I do is watch the videos I’ve filmed on content day or any footage they’ve recorded themselves and sent for editing. I spend a lot of time rewatching the clips to mark where I’ll make my edits. During this time, I’ll do a set of curls, cardio, squats, or other exercises, depending on what I feel like doing.

Once I move on to the editing process after making the cuts, I do my next set of exercises while everything renders.

I also do a final set during the export time. I adopted this approach after hearing an interview about Kanye West’s scattered workflow while living in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It was said that he would jump from working on a song or instrumental to designing Yeezy clothing to lifting weights. While it all sounded chaotic, it seemed like a fun way to keep the creative juices flowing for someone whose life feels dull after sitting still for too long.

I’m not quite sure why I wrote this post; it just popped into my head while I was working on a video. Lol, if you understand my struggle, we just became best friends. But don’t be like me—I often burn out after this!
