PARADISE 05

So I got a notification at about 9am yesterday that a new order was placed in the ELM CITY STUDIOS store for items from our EDITING ESSENTIALS library. I’ll be honest with you, it was the first ever order for our online store. I’ll never be able to tell you how happy I was to see someone shopped with us. My first thought was “Where did this person find out about these? Was it from the ELM CITY STUDIOS instagram ad? Was it YouTube? Facebook?”

Creating tools for creators to use is not something I ever pictured doing but the more I think about it, I can see how things led to it. I used to scour YouTube for tips, tricks, and tutorials. A lot of the creators who I loyally followed offered popular but custom-made assets like transitions, effects, overlays, etc. for free and for purchase. At the time this is exactly what I needed based on my skillset.

Eventually I grew to create my own transitions and such. I didn’t know how to save them for later use so I would write them down. Honestly I can’t tell you how many times I forgot to write things down and ended up creating an entirely new asset. But hey, it helps push the creativity y’know? Those brain-wrecking days and nights were the seedlings for the EDITING ESSENTIALS library.

A lot of things have been clicking for me lately, some I’ve already known but lacked the experience to truly understand. Seeing ELM CITY STUDIOS make a digital product sale made me remember something very important: WHO NEEDS WHAT YOU’RE SELLING?

When you’re selling something it’s important to know who you’re selling it to and why you’re selling it to them. What purpose are you serving? What problem are you solving? You cannot sell a pen to a person that doesn’t need to write. The EDITING ESSENTIALS library was made for all creators, but it especially keeps in mind the creator who is in the earlier stages of their craft and not only need assets like transitions, overlays and sound effects but how to use them as well.

Even though we’ve reached one creator, it still felt so rewarding seeing someone take a chance with what our library has to offer. While my first thought was “Where did this person find out about these? Was it from the ELM CITY STUDIOS instagram ad? Was it YouTube? Facebook?” In the end, it didn’t matter. What did is that our hard work is paying off and it’s just the start. We just have to stay consistent and keep going. This is the best part of life, part of the adventure is helping others find paradise in theirs.
